SUDA Uttar Pradesh

It is a Nodal Agency for Urban Poverty Alleviation Programme of Government of India in the State Of Uttar Pradesh, was established in 1989 under the Department of Urban Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, as a Cell to implement the Nehru Rojgar Yojana (NRY). It was subsequently transformed into an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, in the year 1992. In February, 1998 when the Department of Urban Employment And Poverty Alleviation (UEPA) was formed, the SUDA, U.P. was placed directly under the administrative control and the Principal Secretary, UEPA became the ex-officio Chairperson of SUDA's Governing Body. At present, Secretary, Department of Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation is its Chairperson.

            To Improve The Quality of Life of Urban Poor.
             To enhance capacities of Urban Poor enable them to take advantage
               of Employment Opportunities.
             Bring about Convergence of Services and Programmes in the
               Urban Areas.
            To provide Low Cost Solution for Urban Poor particularly in the
               field of Shelter, Sanitation, Etc.
            To Achieve Quantification of Plan Funds for different Departments
               for benefit of Urban Poor.
            To bring about Networking of Basic Urban Services with Slums.
            Involve all Possible Stakeholders in Decision-Making and Programme
               Implementation.
            Organize Poor Women in Self-Help Groups to promote Savings
               And Economic Independence.
